I’ve been enjoying cigars for more than 15 years. Over that time, I’ve visited cigar lounges all over, shared cigars with friends, and experienced the culture and camaraderie that make the cigar community so special.
But there was always one thing that bothered me.
I noticed that, in many lounges, the cigar cutter was rarely wiped or cleaned between uses. And when you think about how many people use the same cutter throughout an evening, it made me stop and think: What exactly is being transferred from one cigar to the next?
I eventually started carrying my own cutter whenever I visited a lounge. It gave me peace of mind knowing that the tool cutting my cigar was clean and ready for use.
Then I noticed something else.
There are times when a cigar is cut, the smoker takes a draw, decides it isn’t quite right, and asks for another cut. The same cutter goes right back onto the cigar—without being cleaned in between.
As a cigar smoker, I knew there had to be a better way.
